Preventative Health Screening
Family medicine is founded on the principle of prevention. Preventative health visits and screening are based on a patient's age, gender and medical history.
What preventative screening should I know about*?
Healthy women should begin cervical cancer screening at age 21 years with a pap test every 3 years
Healthy women should begin breast cancer screening at age 50
Healthy men and women should begin colon cancer screening at age 50
Healthy men and women should consider osteoporosis screening at age 65
Currently, neither PSA testing or a DRE are recommended for routine prostate cancer screening in men
*Please note, depending on your current medical history and family history screening may begin earlier or more frequently.
